MY OPINION ABOUT WESTERN TV SHOWS

Hello!! How are you today? I hope you always to be fine wherever you are.  In this article, I want to talk about myself and TV shows. I started watching Western TV shows since I started my college in the first year. My friends suggested me to watch some Western TV shows instead of Korean, Japan, or other Asian TV shows. Before that, I liked to watch Korean Drama. Then, I agreed to my friends and I started to watch Western Series in 2015. My first Western Series is Lost, the science-fiction and mystery show. The series tells about a plane crashes a mysterious island. My feeling when I watch the first Western Series is exciting and thrilling. I rarely watched TV shows with science-fiction mixed with mystery or thriller genre. Once time I watched TV Series except romantic genre is Korean Drama crime series titled “You’re all My Surrounded”. So, Lost brought me to the new feeling that I never experienced before.
I always love mystery, thriller, fantasy, science-fiction, or other genres except romantic in movies. But, I feel differently when I watch series and movies. When I watch movies, I sometimes feel unsatisfied because of the limitation in the plot story and the fast-paced of storytelling. In my opinion, some movies have some aspect that couldn’t develop excellently. Example, the movie has less of developing character and plot story only stuck at a certain point. Not only that, but movies also have some plot holes and those plot holes sometimes annoyed the viewers. In my perception, Western TV shows can do something that movies can’t. Western TV shows usually bring us to watch and enjoy the long and developed plot story, amazing developing characterization, the satisfying ending (although, some of the series can’t give enough ending), and the most important thing; viewers can feel the cliffhanger part in some of the episodes.
Since I started to watch Western TV shows, I couldn’t stop. Until now, I have been watching more than 40 Western TV shows and some titles have many seasons. Otherwise, I decrease my intention to watch Korean Drama because I have enough with a romantic genre. I only watch some of Korean or Japan Drama with mystery, thriller, or crime theme, example “Signal”, “Tunnel”, “Children of A Lesser God”, etc. In Western TV shows, I only watch a certain genre of Western TV shows. I will tell you my reasons in my other post. Next discussion, what are the difference between Western TV Shows and Korean Dramas?
Okay, I will tell you how long I have watched Western TV Shows and Korean Dramas. I have watched Western TV shows around 4 years, shorter than Korean Dramas (I’ve watched it in 7 years). Although that, I know some of plus and minus part in Western and Korean Dramas. The First, Western Drama and Korean Drama have the different number of episodes. Korean Dramas usually have 12, 16, 24, or sometimes more than 50 episodes. Korean Dramas rarely divide their episodes into some seasons. Therefore, Western TV shows usually have more than one season. Each of the seasons has various numbers of episodes, like 6, 8, 10, or approximate 15.
The second is the culture. Yeah, of course, cultures cause many different in shows. Example, we know Western TV shows sometimes have vulgar scenes, like nude body women or men, open sexual scenes, or vulgar of violent scenes. I won’t explain clearly about those scenes, but all of those scenes won’t be shown in Korean Dramas. Korean Dramas have “sweet and cute” romantic scenes, not the vulgar.
The third is the series’ genres. Almost all of Korean Drama have a romantic theme. Yeah, if you are fans of the romantic genre, you will be satisfied with Korean Drama. In spite of, some Korean Drama has crime, mystery, and colossal theme, its number series still under the romantic ones. Otherwise, Western TV shows cover many genres, like crime, comedy, romance, mystery, fantasy, science-fiction, thriller, action, etc. Western TV shows have more various themes than Korean Dramas. Not only that, but Western TV shows also explore many unique plot story. If you read the list of popular Western TV shows, you will see many of those TV shows have interesting and unique plots. I give some examples popular Western TV shows: “Game of Thrones”, “Stranger Things”, “True Detective”, “Breaking Bad”, “Sherlock”, “House of Cards”, “Fargo”, and many others. I suggest you to try to read at least the review or synopsis of those TV shows. You can see the difference between plot and theme in Korean and Western series.
The last difference is the visual effect. I think Western TV shows have a more appealing visual effect. I predict the technology make the difference in Korean and Western’s visual effect. Almost all viewers know Hollywood industry have “sophisticated” technology to make an amazing visual effect. So, the reason makes an understanding, why Western TV shows could release many science-fiction, adventure, and fantasy series with incredible visual effect.
In the end, I didn’t try to decrease the quality of Korean Drama. I still watch some Korean Dramas, if I want to enjoy the entertaining and light story. However, I insist to watch more Western TV shows because I looking for a serious and unique plot story.  I’ve listed my Western TV shows recommendation for you. Please take a look at my post before!! Thank you.

TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW! #3

Part 3 (Castle Rock, Undone, Maniac, Channel Zero) Again, having fun ride with me!! Let’s go Castle Rock  Castle Rock adapted from Stephen King’s novels. Castle Rock's popularity was rising after It, a movie that adapted also from Stephen King's novel . Castle Rock season one is my favorite than the second because the story is more scary and layered. It combines horror, mystery, and a little bit of science fiction so well. At first, it was more horror and mystery. A police found a strange man in a cage. The strange man gives several unlucky events to the people in Castle Rock. He called as the devil. But, who is he actually? The performance of Bill Skarsgard is never disappointed. He shows one of his best performances besides his performance as Pennywise in It. At the end of season one, the twist unfolds. This was when the story become more into science-fiction and supernatural. The second season is much different than the first; there are dead people becoming zombies and the...

Happy Reading #3

Hello! Welcome to the third batch of my reading routine. It has been so loongg, I didn't post something about books. I have something more important right now, so my reading routine has lef out awhile from my life.  Those books (Inferno excluded) have been in my list since July 2021. I've read 3 of them and I will write the "standalone" review later. First of all, I share you some hints about my four new books.  1. The Craftsman (by Sharon Bolton) When I found this book in BBW, I was honestly intrigued by the sypnosis. This book has some exciting elements, which are witchcraft and mystery. It look promising, thereby this book will be the last one I read. 2. The Fourth Monkey (J.D.Baker) This one is the first book from The First Monkey series. The book focused on the mystery of a death of infamous criminal. The duo detective in this case and the rest of team tried to find the truth behind the death, is  the criminal that they really seek after for a long time, or ju...
