What is Forensic Psychology? After I've read a book titled "Forensic and Legal Psychology" by Mark A. Custanzo and Daniel A. Krauss, I learned many new things related to Forensic Psychology. So, what is Forensic Psychology studied? Psychology Forensic covered both Psychology and Law. It studied how human behavior in a Law setting. We know that law is covered in many areas, such as police, court, etc. Therefore, Forensic Psychology studied psychology applying in a Law setting.

For instance, psychology could review and advise better interrogation mechanisms to the defendant in a police setting. Psychology also has influenced suspect and eyewitness confession. Then, psychology has roles in court, for example helping the competency of suspects to stand in the trial, selecting jurors, becoming professional witnesses for convicted in a trial, profiling suspects, etc. Psychology in Forensic and Law setting could be from clinical or research psychologist. Even though, clinical and research psychologist have own role and limitation in their practice.
Why is Forensic Psychology important? In my opinion, law application in various sets still impairment. For example, several false confessions ever happened because of terrible practicing in interrogation. Other examples, a wrong confession from eyewitness because of several wrong practicing in eyewitness identification, not suitable mechanism to decide suspect that she or he could stand in trial or not, and the other false practicing. Psychologists help to repair some laws or rules that still applied wrong and help law practice more effective.
