SAHSIYET (PERSONA)

TURKEY TV SHOW

imdb.com

“Wouldn’t that be awesome, if we forget everything wrong and only remember the right things?”
Season: 1
Year: 2018
Rating in IMDB: 9,2 (Rated #24 in IMDB-early 2020)
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Creators: Onur Saylak
Main Casts: Haluk Bilginer (Agah Beyolgu), Cansu Dere (Nevra Elmas), Metin Akdulger (Ates Arbay), Sebnem Bozoklu (Zuhal), Huseyin Avni Danyal (Cemil), Necip Memili (Tolga)

Sahsiyet is the second Turkey series that I watched. Even though I haven’t watched many Turkey series (yet), I would say that this series is awesome. In my country, Turkey series often viewed on TV, but they were usually soap operas (very not suitable for my genre haha). So, I am so surprised when I watched Sahsiyet. Sahsiyet is something different, a little bit dark and thriller, but sometimes fun. You’ll feel your heart muttering because of the dilemmas.
The story begins with Agah Beyolgu. He is our main character and a very unique character that I rarely see on TV. Agah always evoked the dilemma throughout the story. He is a simple man, at first. But, he changed and became the serial killer after he knew the painful fact about his Alzheimer's. After he knew, he decided to be the serial killer because he would forget all of his brutal acts in the future. He didn’t afraid; he believed if he wouldn’t feel any guilt after all of his killings. Eventually, he burnt an archives place in Kambura and took all of Kamburan files.
Kambura is the focus of this story. It is a place with a conservative society and dark secrets. Kambura shows how the Turkey conservative society or maybe most of society in Asia lived. The community often covered up some dark tragedies in their community and it eventually made the problems bigger. In this part, Agah targeted several of Kamburan people that connected into some tragedies in the past. And you’ll know along the story goes.
The other main character is Nevra Elmas. She is one and only women cop in the homicide division. Because of that, she is popular in her country, and surprisingly she connected into Agah acts of killing. After Agah killed his target, he would put a sticker in front of the dead’s forehead. The first corpse appeared, it shows the sticker which Nevra’s name written on that. Nevra confused, then she working hard to find who the serial killer is.
Alright, if you think the story only about catching the mouse, you’re wrong. The story of course mainly focused on how Nevra and her colleagues try to find the serial killer. But, they had to know the real motive of the serial killer first and it’s the interesting part. The viewer will not know the real motive of Agah’s killing acts in the first episode, instead, we will know in almost the last episode. This pattern rarely used in crime or detective drama. On the other side, I think every character considered a human being; Nevra is only the cop with some limitations and not as super cop or detective as we often watched in a detective drama. Agah is also neither the brutal nor the perfect killer (yeah, maybe at first), but he has his main weakness, his Alzheimer in which sometimes made everything ruined. Also, the main motive of all Agah’s killing acts. His motives appearing the big dilemma, could his killing acts be justified or not?
Even the plot story seems interesting enough, the acting is remarkable. I am amazed by Agah's character. He is sometimes so crazy, but sometimes I empathize and pity of him. The actor shows his outstanding acting, the complicated character with his craziness and his charm to be a pity. Besides that, several other characters embark on my empathy too, such as Nevra, Ates, and etc. I actually like how Nevra and Ates's relationship is going on, so I felt disappointed with the ending between them.

MY FAVORITE SCENES:

His first killings, and this is the most favorite killing act than the others

Agah got Nerva a present

This costume catto will be iconic throughout the series

The island often appear in the series, of course, because it is the Kambura
Well, the funny things is all of his killings acts which the really personal for him (sahsiyet) is this scene

TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW! #3

Part 3 (Castle Rock, Undone, Maniac, Channel Zero) Again, having fun ride with me!! Let’s go Castle Rock  Castle Rock adapted from Stephen King’s novels. Castle Rock's popularity was rising after It, a movie that adapted also from Stephen King's novel . Castle Rock season one is my favorite than the second because the story is more scary and layered. It combines horror, mystery, and a little bit of science fiction so well. At first, it was more horror and mystery. A police found a strange man in a cage. The strange man gives several unlucky events to the people in Castle Rock. He called as the devil. But, who is he actually? The performance of Bill Skarsgard is never disappointed. He shows one of his best performances besides his performance as Pennywise in It. At the end of season one, the twist unfolds. This was when the story become more into science-fiction and supernatural. The second season is much different than the first; there are dead people becoming zombies and the...

Happy Reading #3

Hello! Welcome to the third batch of my reading routine. It has been so loongg, I didn't post something about books. I have something more important right now, so my reading routine has lef out awhile from my life.  Those books (Inferno excluded) have been in my list since July 2021. I've read 3 of them and I will write the "standalone" review later. First of all, I share you some hints about my four new books.  1. The Craftsman (by Sharon Bolton) When I found this book in BBW, I was honestly intrigued by the sypnosis. This book has some exciting elements, which are witchcraft and mystery. It look promising, thereby this book will be the last one I read. 2. The Fourth Monkey (J.D.Baker) This one is the first book from The First Monkey series. The book focused on the mystery of a death of infamous criminal. The duo detective in this case and the rest of team tried to find the truth behind the death, is  the criminal that they really seek after for a long time, or ju...
