TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW!

Part 1 (Dark, The OA, Stranger Things)

Come back again with TV Series Review!

It has been so loong since I do not write a TV series review. So here I am, reviewing some titles of TV series with the theme of science fiction, supernatural, mystery, and horror. Those are my favorite genre, so I am listing some of the TV series that I watched.

Dark

When the series was still ongoing, Dark had gotten so much attention worldwide. I like the vibe from this show, it was atmospheric just like the name. Dark, Gloomy, and so so Mysterious. I was fallen in love since episode one of season one. I swept season one at one day, and It was a fun ride! Season one has stolen the title of my favorite drama forever, along with season two. Although the third season is not my favorite even though it unfold the puzzles, this show is always my favorite than the other show in this genre. I only write a review from season 1 and 2 on this website, so just read it: https://selfreviewer.blogspot.com/2019/11/dark.html

Dark shows how the story about time-traveling could be so complicated and complex. The show includes many science fiction laws that all sci-fi fans would like. Not only that, but the show also referenced from the bible, myths, and tales. Dark is beautifully written. Also, it shows a whole new level of cinematography that I rarely see on the other show. All I like concise in Dark: mystery, supernatural, science fiction, family drama. I am waiting for this kind of series to come again or "1889" from the same director and producer.

The OA

The poster is beautiful!

The series told about Prairie, a woman that got blind suddenly. Prairie had been abducted before because she was the subject of the Near of Death Experience (NDE) experiment. Prairie and others experiment subjects found a way that one and only can save them. It is a dance. The dance is pure magic, it can save them but also move them to another dimension or world.

The series is so beautiful!! When I watched the first season, I was trembling. I adore the dance and it was so awesome when they danced together. The series has an original story and idea, it mixed well the mystery, supernatural, even spirituality. It has a similar concept as Dark season 3, the parallel world but it holds more spiritual ways and some fantasy concepts. The OA also shows friendship and togetherness; it is touched my heart and I like it.

The magic of the dance!

The second season has a different concept than the first season. I think the second season is bolder. The first season was heartwarming but the second season is more ambitious. It mixed so many things and more into fantasy than spiritual things. I like the first one, but the second season is so unique. I was surprised by the ideas, some of the plot and the ideas are new and original. The second season digs deeper into dreams and the subconscious. The difference from the first is, while the dance and NDE can move people into a different dimension, the dream can help them to communicate. Not only the dream, some games, and another new experiment make the plot richer. Unfortunately for the fans, the show is ended by Netflix because of the rating. The show had promised for five seasons, so I am so sad that it will never be continued again. We will never know how the story end.

Stranger Thing

Who doesn’t know this show? I think Stranger Thing is the most popular show on this list. The plot is like a general story, a kid with supernatural power found by four friends in a city named Hawkins. Season one told about the appearance of Eleven, the strange kid; and the disappearance of Will. Season one is the most interesting one. The story is thrilling and exciting. The atmosphere in season one is the best, it was gloomy and so so strange. I like the scene when Will’s mom; Joyce try to find Will with the lamp and the scratches. I actually like the mystery more than the monsters. The design of the creatures, especially Demogorgon is good. But, the way they cracked the mystery of where the Will was is epic, also when they found the downside world. The downside world idea is exciting too, so I want the show to explore that.

Unfortunately, the second and the third season did not tell much about the mystery of the downside world. The story focused more on the development of Eleven and the relationships around her, such as the romance between Eleven and Mike, or the bonding with Hopper as her new Father. When a new monster appeared, Eleven and the boys tried to close the door between both worlds. Stranger Things focus more on how the people in Hawkins survived from the monsters and the organization that started all of this. Why not focus on the mystery of the downside world? Why and how the downside world has appeared? What the other things are except the monsters in the downside world? and...Why it only appeared at Hawkins? I hope it will be solved in the next fourth season.

The last thing, why don't the monsters have intelligence?? I think it would make the story more complicated and fun!

TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW! #3

Part 3 (Castle Rock, Undone, Maniac, Channel Zero) Again, having fun ride with me!! Let’s go Castle Rock  Castle Rock adapted from Stephen King’s novels. Castle Rock's popularity was rising after It, a movie that adapted also from Stephen King's novel . Castle Rock season one is my favorite than the second because the story is more scary and layered. It combines horror, mystery, and a little bit of science fiction so well. At first, it was more horror and mystery. A police found a strange man in a cage. The strange man gives several unlucky events to the people in Castle Rock. He called as the devil. But, who is he actually? The performance of Bill Skarsgard is never disappointed. He shows one of his best performances besides his performance as Pennywise in It. At the end of season one, the twist unfolds. This was when the story become more into science-fiction and supernatural. The second season is much different than the first; there are dead people becoming zombies and the...

Happy Reading #3

Hello! Welcome to the third batch of my reading routine. It has been so loongg, I didn't post something about books. I have something more important right now, so my reading routine has lef out awhile from my life.  Those books (Inferno excluded) have been in my list since July 2021. I've read 3 of them and I will write the "standalone" review later. First of all, I share you some hints about my four new books.  1. The Craftsman (by Sharon Bolton) When I found this book in BBW, I was honestly intrigued by the sypnosis. This book has some exciting elements, which are witchcraft and mystery. It look promising, thereby this book will be the last one I read. 2. The Fourth Monkey (J.D.Baker) This one is the first book from The First Monkey series. The book focused on the mystery of a death of infamous criminal. The duo detective in this case and the rest of team tried to find the truth behind the death, is  the criminal that they really seek after for a long time, or ju...
