TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW! #2

Part 2 (Legion, Westworld, Black Mirror)

Okay! We continue…

Legion

Legion is one of the Marvel heroes who has the most unique story. It is weird, combine with psychological thrillers and the supernatural. The main character himself, David, is one of the quirky and most unique characters. He is the son of Professor X, one of the most powerful heroes from X-Men. David has a powerful yet strange power. Because his power is so powerful, he got a mental illness. It was the question from season one, Does his power real or just the part of his madness? The second and the third season have different questions to answered and solved, but some of the mysteries were lingering until the end. David’s power, the plot, the mystery, and the psychological thriller are the interesting aspects of Legion. The show is like an extravaganza, so bizarre, colorful, and psychedelic.

one of the strangeness
Season one is the best of the other seasons (Always…). But, the second and third seasons are unbelievable. The first season was the most normal than the others, I think. The second was the most slow-burn, but it was satisfying in the end season. The third was the most bizarre; it was weirder and more mind-blowing. In general, Legion is so strange, weird, but I like all of the strangeness and weirdness of the story (and cinematography). It was a good and unique experience in watching TV shows that I never forget. Dan Stevens as David shows his best performance! Until now, it was hard to find a show like this. Legion is so distinct from the other science fiction, hero, supernatural, and psychological thriller series. It is worth experiencing the different levels of complex and weird stories, also cinematography. Although I think Legion is not for all people, you can try to watch it to know how far you can handle this kind of quirky show.
The posters are so psychedelic!

Westworld

Westworld is another popular show. It catches more attention when the first season was released. The first season (again) is the best. The story is about the theme-park arena fulfilled with AI or human robots. The AI think that they are humans, not robot. The main characters found the truth that they are not a human. They tried to uncover the truth and find a way to get out of Westworld. This show focus on the war between the robot and the human.

The first season has one of the best plot twists in the history of the west TV show (Clap, clap). I am surprised with how the plot unfolds in season one, it was entertaining! The story in season one is slow-burn but it has a satisfying end. But, the second season is more slow-burn and stretch than the purpose of the plot. I haven’t watched the third season because it has a different plot and taste than the two before. If you want the complex character, engaging story, and mystery, the original concept of world-building; you should watch Westworld. You can only watch the first season, the first itself is satisfying even though it was not concluded the plot. The plot concluded in the second season, but you need more patience to watch it.

Black Mirror

It is hard not to include this series in this list. Black Mirror is one of the popular shows, it includes so many genres. Furthermore, Black Mirror is about unluckiness, dystopia world-building, depressing stories, and almost all of it is the bad side of technology. Black Mirror is anthology series, each episode delivers a different plot, the main character, and world-building. There are my favorite episodes:

Fifteen Million Merits (S1): The story is simple but I am touched… It shows how privilege works in society.

White Christmas (S2): If you can block someone in real life, how does it works? Also, if you can duplicate yourself to make life easier, how it could be? This is one of the mind-bending episodes I most liked. Twist by twist in this episode also makes it become the higher-rated episode in Black Mirror.

Shut Up and Dance (S3): It is like a game, but a dangerous game. When a teenage kid was blackmailed, he tried to save himself. But, he was involved with other persons that got blackmailed too. It is entertaining and thrilling.

Hated in the Nation (S3): The idea of the story is good and original. Bees are animals that people considered unimportant animals, but they can be daunting.

Hang the DJ (S4): The romance is so good. The concept is actually not original, I mean, I have seen it somewhere in comics or novels. But, the plot is good, simple, and heartwarming. I like how the story gives us hope about romance and freedom.

Black Museum (S4): Wow, this is more into horror than the other episodes. I like the concept and plot. The Black Museum itself is fascinating, but the story of the skull in the chair…horrifying but mesmerizing at the same time.

Smithereens (S5): It was thrilling! The cab driver trying to take down a powerful technology company. It shows how far humans can do when they felt hopeless.

TV SHOW SCI-FI, MYSTERY, & SUPERNATURAL REVIEW! #3

Part 3 (Castle Rock, Undone, Maniac, Channel Zero) Again, having fun ride with me!! Let’s go Castle Rock  Castle Rock adapted from Stephen King’s novels. Castle Rock's popularity was rising after It, a movie that adapted also from Stephen King's novel . Castle Rock season one is my favorite than the second because the story is more scary and layered. It combines horror, mystery, and a little bit of science fiction so well. At first, it was more horror and mystery. A police found a strange man in a cage. The strange man gives several unlucky events to the people in Castle Rock. He called as the devil. But, who is he actually? The performance of Bill Skarsgard is never disappointed. He shows one of his best performances besides his performance as Pennywise in It. At the end of season one, the twist unfolds. This was when the story become more into science-fiction and supernatural. The second season is much different than the first; there are dead people becoming zombies and the...

Happy Reading #3

Hello! Welcome to the third batch of my reading routine. It has been so loongg, I didn't post something about books. I have something more important right now, so my reading routine has lef out awhile from my life.  Those books (Inferno excluded) have been in my list since July 2021. I've read 3 of them and I will write the "standalone" review later. First of all, I share you some hints about my four new books.  1. The Craftsman (by Sharon Bolton) When I found this book in BBW, I was honestly intrigued by the sypnosis. This book has some exciting elements, which are witchcraft and mystery. It look promising, thereby this book will be the last one I read. 2. The Fourth Monkey (J.D.Baker) This one is the first book from The First Monkey series. The book focused on the mystery of a death of infamous criminal. The duo detective in this case and the rest of team tried to find the truth behind the death, is  the criminal that they really seek after for a long time, or ju...
